Aussie Aussie Aussie – Oi Oi Oi!

Man, this chant honestly makes me cringe every single time I hear it. But it’s Australia Day today, and all is forgiven. Today is the day I embrace my inner Aussie and I celebrate all things Australia.

Why…?

Because I love this country. And how could you not? It may be a little rough around the edges at times, but that is exactly part of its charm. Where else in the world can you find our red earth and blue skies, all the colours of diversity, multiple cultures and it’s people, our glorious beaches and our envied lifestyle, spectacular Sydney Harbour… Enough said.

I may be a total import {made and assembled overseas with fully imported components}, but I’ve spent almost half my life here and this place is my home as much as any other. And that’s saying something coming from a massively patriotic, passionate and nostalgic little lady from the Balkans.

And what are you doing today?

I’m going to eat Vegemite for breakfast, chuck a few sangers on the barbie for lunch, have plenty of grog, eat a meat pie and a sausage roll, go for a swim in my togs and wear my thongs… You know, the usual.

So go on, have yourself a you beaut Australia Day and whatever you do – I hope it’s a rip snorter!
